Come Visit Historic Mansfield General Store Where Yesterday Softens The Impact of Tomorrow
Mansfield General Store has been a fixture on Jefferson Street since 1896. Even though the name has changed, current owners, Terry and Susan Thomas, have tried to capture the charm of yesteryear while keeping pace with today.
The Manley building, built in 1895, has housed a general store since 1896. The first , operated by John Manley and John Barnhart, was named "The Enterprise".In 1911, O. I. McKee who had worked at the Enterprise, bought the business and renamed it "Cash Supply Store". Ikie owned it until his death in 1964. Ikie's son Paul and daughter-in-law Charlotte took over. In 1979, Terry and Susan Thomas purchased "McKee's Cash Supply" and" Mansfield General Store" was born.
Incorporating video rentals, movie posters, gifts, Avon, and the "shivers & jitters" snack shop which features sandwiches, fries,( etc.), AND 24 and more flavors of soft ice cream, with the groceries and greeting cards already available, history and a new century unite to continue the general store tradition.
